My name is Calli and I am a wife, mother and passionate horticulturist. I was inspired to start Sweet Pea’s Garden after the birth of our daughter Penelope in 2012. My career in Horticulture has led me in many different directions over the years. I have had the chance to work at some really great places which have shaped my growing experience. I started at an organic herb farm, then worked at a wholesale tree farm and have grown everything from vegetables, annuals and perennials to trees and shrubs at a retail garden center. Most recently I managed the perennial program at a wholesale greenhouse here in Palisade. Although I love growing flowers, my heart and the health of my family has driven me to grow more of the food my family eats. I am devoted to growing and eating quality, homegrown food at our family table.
At Sweet Pea’s we grow a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, and flowers. Our goal is to grow tasty, local produce with natural growing techniques that provide you with the best and freshest food possible. Our produce is sold in bundled baskets once a week. They are filled with fresh picked in-season produce, culinary herbs and fresh flowers when available.
Many of the varieties we grow are Heirlooms and all were chosen for their tasty qualities! I believe GMO foods are not good for our health or for the future of farming. None will ever be grown at Sweet Pea’s.
I believe in a simple gardening philosophy. Take care of the earth, take care of the people, and share the bounty.
